Julius Schaller

Julius Schaller (1810–1868) taught in Halle and wrote Die Philosophie unserer Zeit (The Philosophy of Our Time) in 1837.

He belonged to the middle current of the school, which went along neither with Strauss’s critique nor with the justification of orthodoxy. His book is one of the first accounts to treat Hegel’s philosophy as already a thing of the past — six years after his death.
