Commentary on the Philosophy of Nature, Chapter 26
What Remains of Physics
Not the findings. What remains is the question by which they are ordered: How far does the relation reach into the object? In impact, not at all; in the magnet, into its shape; in the chemical process, into its composition; in the organism, into what sustains it.
It is an ordering of forms, useful even where Hegel’s examples no longer serve. It is not physics, and it is not meant to be.
