Immediate / Mediated
Hegel (throughout)
Not meant temporally (first immediate, then mediated), but logically. The immediate is what seems simple, presuppositionless. The mediated is what is determined through something else. But: the truly immediate is mediated (through the sublation of mediation). Truth is *mediated immediacy*.
Origin
Traditionally: immediate = directly given. Hegel: the immediate is the result of mediation.

Die pointe
In determining reflection it is recognized: what appeared immediate (the posited) was always already mediated. What appeared mediated (the presupposed) is itself posited. This is "mediated immediacy" -- the truth of both one-sided moments.
