Sublation

Hegel's central methodological concept (*Aufhebung*). "To sublate" has a threefold meaning that Hegel deliberately exploits: 1. To negate (to abolish, overcome something), 2. To preserve (to retain what is true in it), 3. To elevate (to lift to a higher level). Sublation is the positive movement that does not annihilate contradictions but integrates them.
