Reell

Hegel (Logic of Essence, opposite of formal)

"Reell" means content-laden, filled with actuality. Real possibility has conditions in actuality (not merely conceivable, but realizable). The real difference is a difference in content (not merely formal diversity). In Hegel it is often used synonymously with "real." The reell is what has been actualized, what is substantive, in contrast to the merely formal.

Origin

Latin realis (pertaining to the thing, factual). Scholasticism: res (thing) - realitas as substantive content. Kant: real opposition (A and -A) vs. logical contradiction. Hegel: reell as counter-concept to abstract-formal.
