Coherence Theory of Truth

Traditional epistemology

Truth as internal freedom from contradiction and systematic coherence of a system of beliefs. A statement is true if it can be coherently integrated into a consistent system of beliefs. Problem: different coherent systems can lead to different "truths." What is missing is the connection to the resistance of experience.

In Hegel

Presented in the "Idea of the Good" (the practical idea) and recognized as one-sided — the good remains an ought, confronted by reality as a limit standing against it.
