Coherence Theory of Truth

Traditional epistemology

Truth as inner freedom from contradiction and the systematic coherence of a system of beliefs. A statement is true if it can be coherently integrated into a consistent system of beliefs. Problem: different coherent systems can lead to different "truths." What is missing is the reference to the resistance of experience.

Presented in the "idea of the good" (practical idea) and recognized as one-sided — the good remains an ought, opposed by reality as a barrier.
