The sixth ethical criterion: Act so that ends are not merely imposed from outside, but are internal. Derived from the structure of life - life is an end in itself, not a mere means.
Origin
Kant: the organism as an end in itself. Hegel: life as inner purposiveness (as distinct from the outer purposiveness of technique).
