Karl Heinrich Frommann

Karl Heinrich Frommann (1736–1815) was a Privy Councillor and secretary in the Württemberg state ministry.

His art collection connected him with Goethe and Schelling. During Hegel’s Jena years, such houses mattered more than the university: in them one met Goethe, the Schlegel brothers, the theologian Paulus — the conversations took place on walks and at evening gatherings, not in the lecture hall.
