Heinrich Beer

Heinrich Beer (1794–1842) was a merchant and banker in Berlin and a brother of the composer Giacomo Meyerbeer.

He attended Hegel’s lectures and became his friend. Berlin society frequented the house of his mother, Amalie Beer; she was among the hostesses of the salons in which nobility, the bourgeoisie, and the city’s Jewish families met — and in which Hegel, too, was a regular guest.
