Moment

Hegel (pervasive)

Not a temporal instant, but a structural element, aspect, determination within a whole. The "moments of the concept" are the sides (universal, particular, individual), not temporal phases. A moment is a non-self-standing part that exists only in connection with other moments.

Origin

Latin *momentum* = moving force, weight. Hegel makes this a logical term: moments are the dynamic elements of a structure.
