Hegel (critique)

A determination that is posited as unreachable or "behind" appearance. Hegel criticizes the positing of a beyond (e.g., Kant's "thing in itself," Ch. 5.4, or "bad infinity," Ch. 1.9) as an empty abstraction of the understanding.
