Ideality

Hegel (pervasive)

The property of existing only as a moment of a whole and having no independent existence. The finite is "ideal" --- its truth is not itself, but the infinite (Ch. 1.11). The moments of the concept (U, P, I) are ideal --- they exist only in the unity of the concept (Ch. 9.7).
