Unfolding

Unfolding is the unwrapping of what was already there "folded in" (implicit). The concept unfolds itself: what is in itself becomes for itself. Example: the seed contains the tree implicitly; unfolding makes it explicit. In logic: all categories are "folded into" being, and development unfolds them. This is not creation out of nothing but explication. Unfolding is not mechanical-automatic but dialectical-contradictory. The end was present at the beginning, but as potency—unfolding is its actualization.
