Consciousness

The sphere of subjectivity in which the separation of I and object is experienced (Ch. 21.1, 29.2). In contrast to unconscious life (Ch. 19), reflection appears in consciousness, which distinguishes the object from the subject in order to know it (theoretical cognition) or shape it (practical willing).
