Franz Volkmar Reinhard

Franz Volkmar Reinhard (1753–1812) was professor of philosophy in Wittenberg from 1780 and chief court preacher in Dresden from 1791.

He was the most famous pulpit orator of his time and a representative of moderate Enlightenment theology. For Hegel’s youth, he was an example of what a “Stiftler” (a student of the Tübinger Stift, the Protestant seminary in Tübingen) could achieve — Reinhard came from the same Württemberg educated class.
