Basics

It matters greatly to us, and we invest considerable effort into it, to provide this website in such a way that we collect no personal data from you without your consent (as when you write us an email) and that you are not spied upon, including by others. This is nowadays the exception on the Internet — see, for instance, Shoshana Zuboff 2019.

Web server and log files

The connection from your browser to our website is established encrypted via an SSL connection (recognizable by the https:// at the start of the browser’s address bar and the closed padlock icon before it), so that uninvolved third parties cannot tell which page/link you call up on our website and which content you view.

The web server for this website is hosted by 1&1 IONOS SE, Elgendorfer Str. 57, 56410 Montabaur, in Germany, in accordance with the EU GDPR. IONOS’s data protection officer can be reached at datenschutz@ionos.de.

As with any other website, the web server writes log files recording the accesses and the IP addresses of those accessing it. When logging, the IP address is truncated (in the format x.y.z.0) and thereby anonymized.

Since there are also no user accounts, no cookies, no personalized links, no integration of other services, or any other means of attributing IP addresses to individuals (whether truncated or not) here, we therefore do not regard these log files as personal data.

The log files serve to troubleshoot and defend against threats in the event of connection errors, hacking attacks, and denial-of-service attacks, and are otherwise not analyzed.

Emails you voluntarily send us

Should you write us an email, for instance by clicking on an “Email” link, your email address and the text of your email will, as with any email, be transmitted to us and read and processed by us. We assume that this is expressly desired by you when you write us an email.

Should you activate one of the buttons/links at the end of an article (such as this one), your IP address, the page you are on, and any other information you have voluntarily provided, for instance when logging in to the respective service, will be transmitted to that service or to the respective website, depending on the service.

Unlike, for instance, the “Like buttons” from Facebook favored by some other website operators, hegel-system.de does not transmit any data about you BEFORE you voluntarily activate one of the buttons below.

We use the “Shariff” technique to enable this, from the magazine c’t published by Heise Verlag, Hanover. It is described in this article.

The JavaScript file providing the functionality of the buttons below is located on our servers. In doing so, no personal data arises on our servers, and nothing of the sort is evaluated or stored by us. Nor is any data transmitted to Heise Verlag in the process.

No other personal data

In all other cases, no personal data arises from the use of our website.

The only external service we use and link to is https://DuckDuckGo.com. The search field at the top of the triangle pages passes your search query on to DuckDuckGo. DuckDuckGo is considered one of the best search engines with regard to data protection; use there occurs entirely anonymously, unlike with Google, Bing, and others. Your search queries are not stored.

Searchable tables within the website

For pages with searchable tables, there is an in-page search, which likewise uses a form and a JavaScript code.

The search takes place entirely within hegel-system.de; no data is stored or passed on in the process.

Examples of what we do NOT do

Apart from the exceptions named above, no data is collected, stored, or analyzed.

There are, for instance, no cookies on hegel-system.de, no use/integration of Google or Facebook services, no hidden tracking pixels, no other external tools, files, or tracking links, no advertising, and none of what else is nowadays used everywhere for surveillance.

Security

To protect your personal data against unintentional or unlawful collection, deletion, alteration, or loss, and against unauthorized disclosure or unauthorized access, hegel-system.de employs technical and organizational security measures.

Among other things, we employ a strict “Content Security Policy” which ensures that, as far as possible, no data is collected at all.

Through the almost complete renunciation of JavaScript in your browser and the complete renunciation of any scripting language and database on our server, as well as through forgoing the inclusion of external resources, we further reduce the risk of hacking attacks on us and on you as a visitor to our website.

Incidentally, all these measures also make our server considerably faster than is otherwise usual on the Internet.

The hegel-system.de website contains links to other websites. hegel-system.de is not responsible for the data protection provisions or the content of other websites.

hegel-system.de will respond to all reasonable requests for access, in order to help you exercise your rights under the EU GDPR, such as to review your personal data and to correct, supplement, or delete any inconsistencies.
