Philipp Heinrich Hopf

Philipp Heinrich Hopf (1747–1804) studied at the Tübingen Seminary, became a Magister in 1766, and in 1783 became professor of physics and mathematics at the Karls Academy in Stuttgart.

Together with Jakob Friedrich Abel, he visited the gatherings at the home of Hegel’s parents. Hegel’s diary notes that both professors “honored our society with a visit.” Hopf, too, belonged to the Stuttgart Illuminati.
