Ludwig Heinrich von Jakob

Ludwig Heinrich von Jakob (1759–1827) was professor of philosophy in Halle from 1791, professor of political science in Kharkiv from 1807, and again in Halle from 1816.

He belonged to the early Kantians who cast Kant’s teaching in textbook form. This was decisive for its reception: what students knew of Kant, they generally knew from such presentations, not from the Critiques themselves.
