Karl Daub

Karl Daub (1765–1836) taught Protestant theology in Heidelberg, from 1810 as Privy Church Councillor.

He had read Hegel’s writings early on and worked in 1816 to secure his appointment to Heidelberg. Daub belongs to the theologians who did not see Hegel’s philosophy as a threat to faith but as its conceptual form — an interpretation that shaped the right-Hegelian school after Hegel’s death.
