Josef Ignaz Ritter

Josef Ignaz Ritter (1787–1857) was a Catholic theologian, chaplain in Berlin from 1818, and from 1823 professor of church history in Bonn.
He is among the Catholic scholars who examined Hegel’s philosophy rather than rejecting it — the Catholic branch of the Hegel reception begins in this period.
