Johannes von Müller

Johannes von Müller (1752–1809) was a historian, from 1804 Prussian historiographer, and later a minister in the Kingdom of Westphalia.

His Swiss History was among the works Hegel read during his Bern years. Müller’s move into Napoleonic service brought him accusations of betrayal — for Hegel, he was rather an example of how time had passed beyond the old loyalties.
