Johann Jakob Flatt

Johann Jakob Flatt (1724–1792) became a Magister in 1744, was a repetent (resident tutor) in Tübingen, from 1781 city pastor in Stuttgart, and from 1783 consistorial councilor.

He belonged to the Württemberg Ehrbarkeit — that stratum of pastors and officials from which Hegel’s family also came, and which shaped the intellectual life of the duchy. Two of his sons later taught at the Tübinger Stift.
