Gotthold Friedrich Stäudlin

Gotthold Friedrich Stäudlin (1758–1796) studied law in Tübingen starting in 1776 and from 1786 worked as a chancery advocate in Stuttgart.

He published almanacs of the muses in which Hölderlin’s first poems appeared, and gathered the young Swabian poets around himself. As a supporter of the Revolution he lost his office, fled to Strasbourg, and took his own life in 1796.
