Abstract / Concrete
Hegel (throughout)
Not "abstract = theoretical" vs. "concrete = practical." In Hegel: abstract = one-sided, isolated, poor in determinations. Concrete = mediated, rich in determinations, grasped in its interconnections. The concrete is that which has "grown together" (Latin *concrescere*).
Origin
A reversal of ordinary usage. "Being" sounds concrete but is abstract (empty). "Concept" sounds abstract but is concrete (richly determined).
