Friedrich von Müller

Friedrich von Müller (1779–1849) entered Weimar state service in 1801 and became a privy councillor in 1807 for his negotiations with Napoleon.

He was Goethe’s confidant and conversation partner in the latter’s final years; his notes are among the sources for Goethe’s judgments — including those on Hegel, whom Goethe valued without following him.
