Origin: Self-sublation is thus conceived within the genus — the individual perishes, the species remains. In Darwin, the species changes. Anyone who applies this structure to evolution must alter the concept of genus.

In Hegel: Aristotle, genos — the universal under which species stand. In the natural history of the eighteenth century it became a taxonomic rank (Linnaeus). Hegel uses it in the Aristotelian sense: as the abiding element, not as a rank.
