Clemens Brentano

Clemens Brentano (1778–1842) was a poet of the younger Romantic generation.

In Frankfurt, where Hegel lived from 1797 to 1800 as a private tutor, Brentano belonged to the same circle as Carl Friedrich von Savigny — both later held positions that Hegel opposed: Romanticism in poetry, the historical school of law in jurisprudence.
