Christian Xeller

Christian Xeller (1784–1872) was a painter, a friend of Peter Cornelius, and from 1817 onward worked as a restorer for the Boisserée brothers.
The Boisserée collection of Old German painting was the occasion for Hegel’s engagement with this art — it brought to light rediscovered works that had previously been considered crude.
