Karl Theodor Bayrhoffer

Karl Theodor Bayrhoffer (1812–1888) taught philosophy in Marburg and belonged to the left wing of the school.

In 1848 he gave up his professorship and entered politics; after the revolution failed, he emigrated to America. His path represents the part of the Young Hegelians who wanted to move from philosophy into practice — and stayed there.
