Jakob Sengler

Jakob Sengler (1799–1878) taught in Freiburg and belonged to the speculative theists.

This school of thought — along with Immanuel Hermann Fichte, Christian Hermann Weiße, and Kuno Fischer — held fast to a personal God and disputed that Hegel’s Absolute was one. Jaeschke calls the school’s confrontation with them philosophically significant: what was at stake here was the matter itself, not politics.
