Heinrich Leo

Heinrich Leo (1799–1878) taught history in Halle and attacked the Hegelians from the right.

His polemical pamphlet Die Hegelingen [The Little Hegelians] of 1838 charged them with atheism and subversive intentions and called for state intervention. The accusation struck home: the Hallische Jahrbücher [Halle Yearbooks] came under pressure, and the Prussian government turned away from the school.
