Friedrich Julius Stahl

Friedrich Julius Stahl (1802–1861) taught philosophy of law in Berlin — in the same chair that Hegel had previously held.

His Philosophy of Law According to the Historical View established Prussian conservatism philosophically: the law comes from God, not from reason. Stahl’s appointment in 1840 was a decision against the school, and it was understood as such.
