Carl Friedrich Bachmann

Carl Friedrich Bachmann (1785–1855) taught philosophy in Jena, where he had still heard Hegel lecture.

A year after Hegel’s death, he published Über Hegels System und die Notwendigkeit einer nochmaligen Umgestaltung der Philosophie [On Hegel’s System and the Necessity of a Renewed Transformation of Philosophy] — one of the first reckonings from within Hegel’s own ranks. Bachmann belongs to those who were there from early on and turned away early as well.
