In view of the current Iraq crisis, the contradiction between the self-determination of a state and the subordination under a world government appears clearly again.

So, for example, on the one hand the USA respects the UN to make the decision about war and peace, on the other hand they make the decision for themselves.

Kant already dreamed of an eternal world peace, that is supposed to be produced and guaranteed by the democratic peoples partnership.

To many people this dream seems to be not far away from realization.

The activity of the USA to them is an inconceivable step backwards.

But as long as the peoples partnership will be constituted of sovereign countries this contradiction will continue.

A true union under a higher force monopoly would mean at the same time to give up the own sovereignty.

The world is lead by states not by the international law of the UN, Hegel shows this fact as a necessity which is determinated by the concept of the state and the international law itself.

The relation between the states is the first negation of the concept of the sovereign countries.

As such the first negation is in the opposite to the autonomy but at the same time it is based on and presupposed it.

In the UN, the countries are unified to respect their independence.

Until today, Hegel’s statements go well together with the reality of the world.

And the goal of a scientific philosophy is to find the necessity in reality, not to fantasize about an utopian world.
